Project Management / Production

The below are a list of projects that I have worked on in a PM capacity. I also tend to do some level of creative or strategy work on these projects, primarily when it comes to multimedia production. The majority of work I’ve done has been for clients in the culture and research sector, as well as some work in the gaming space.

Oregon Historical Society: Digital History Projects

Oregon TimeWeb, Wayfinder, and History Project are three websites with the same goal: share artifacts and stories Oregon’s rich and complex history. So, why make three?

People learn in different ways and have different goals - OHS acknowledges this. Oregon History Project is a more traditional educational site with a collections search, interpretive essays, and curated collections of narratives that allow historians to break up large moments of history into digestible segments. TimeWeb aims to share the state’s history through timelines. A user-friendly introduction explains the importance of timelines and the endless ways users can make timelines their own with filters for topics, regions, periods of time, and more. Users can also share their custom timelines, making the site especially useful to educators using TimeWeb to complement their lesson plans. Finally, Wayfinder shares the history of Oregon with the same type of filters and level of customization as TimeWeb, but with a focus on the geographical locations of important events and artifacts. While all three sites were built with web in mind, TimeWeb and Wayfinder have both been adapted as table and tablet friendly experiences. History just looks better on a 52” touchscreen.

As the PM on these three sites, I worked with the UI/UX team, design team, and developers over the span of 9 months to deliver all three on a rolling basis. The main functions of my work were identifying the goals and assumptions of the projects, creating and maintaining schedules and milestones, gathering and enforcing requirements, weekly client meetings and communications, conducting user testing with preliminary designs, collecting and working with the teams to address feedback from the client and users, and daily management of web development (prioritization, ticket creation and organization, functional QA and remediations).

Maine Historical Society: Visual rebrand, audience engagement plan, website
Click the photos above to see the site.

The Maine Historical Society came to us with the intention of redefining their entire brand strategy, from how they engage to their audience to their visual design and, finally, to a completely new institutional website. We worked with MHS to define what really made them unique as an institution and used their extensive collection of the items and artifacts that give Maine its distinct identity to guide this new chapter of MHS’ history.

As the project manager on this rebrand, I lead the strategy, design, UI/UX, and development teams throughout the course of this one year project. I also managed and scoped for the maintenance SLA and planned and implemented upcoming improvements and bug fixes post-launch. As the PM and the account manager on the project, I met weekly with the MHS team as we provided milestone updates and worked collaboratively with the MHS team throughout all phases to ensure that our vision and their intimate understanding of the institution matched up, fit their pre-existing content, and also gave them the flexibility and direction to shape the content for their new ambitions.
